Happy holidays! Well, almost…they are just around the corner. Are you ready? Join me and my fellow bHome app bloggers today as we each share some fun projects to make your holidays extra special. I hope you enjoy this Christmas project tour!
The holidays are made precious by the many lovely little traditions we hold dear; stringing popcorn garlands while sipping hot drinks, kitchen conversations while cooking the delectable holiday dinner…so many great traditions start in the kitchen
*Special thanks to Canvas Corp for sponsoring this post and providing goodies!
The holidays are made precious by the many lovely little traditions we hold dear; stringing popcorn garlands while sipping hot drinks, kitchen conversations while cooking the delectable holiday dinner, piping designs on sugar cookies together…so many great traditions start in the kitchen; what nicer way to personalize that time than by each individual creating their very own holiday aprons together the day before the kitchen fun ensues?
But don’t stop there, have each kitchen helper design their own special canvas bags in addition to their apron. Next fill each bag with sweet treats and goodies for snacking while cooking in the kitchen. It is the considerate little touches that make the time spent cooking together more fun!
Here’s What You’ll Need
You can find everything you’ll need for this project over at Canvas Corp Brands. Oh, well except the painters tape! Here are my favorite apron choices, and goody bag choices:
- Canvas Apron Child/Small
- Black Canvas Handiwork Apron
- Canvas Craft Apron Double Pockets
- Canvas Drawstring Sac’s (5×7″)
And these are the paint colors I went with…although, there is a huge selection of amazing colors, all perfect for fabric painting!
- Rose Gold High Impact paint
- Gold High Impact paint
- Berrylicious Glimmer Glam paint
- Bash Glimmer Mist
- Graphite Glimmer Mist
Let’s Get Started!
This is a great project to do with kids! Give them a roll of painters tape and let them go to work creating any fun design they can dream up! Alternately, give them a paint brush and some paint and they can also paint free handed designs.
I had never used (or seen) a misting paint like these from the Tattered Angels line. Guys, these are so much fun to use! Be sure you execute this project in an area where you can get paint droplets on the ground (just in case), and you may have to help young kids with the spray mist. My 8 year old had a blast with the glimmer mists and did amazingly well on her own!
For those who love a little more of a modern design (one that will work all year round), try creating some geometric shapes using your painters tape. Ever the gold fanatic, I think the high impact gold creates a gorgeous bit of glimmer that shows up perfectly on the black!
Of course don’t forget the goody bags! Your kitchen helpers will think that is the best part! Keep it a surprise, and have all those special snacks waiting to fill them with. It will be like having a set of stockings just for the cooks! Oh ok, you can share it with the football and parade watchers too. 😀
Just like with the aprons, use a bit of painters tape and get creative with your designs. You can even make them reversible with a different design on each side!
If you want to create specific shapes, lay the painters tape across some wax paper, draw an outline of the desired shape, cut it out and peel it off.
I hope you and your family have a ton of fun with this little project! We had a blast!
The best part? IÂ will have tons of helpers in the kitchen come time to make the big meal. Why? Because they all know it is the place to be with special aprons, and loads of edible goodies!
