Three young faces peek around my door frame with wide eyes and awe, and well they should! I’m standing there like the end of a Home Depot commercial, superhero stance, admiring my newly made-over master bedroom. Well, nearly made-over…I still have one last project and some organizing to do.
My eldest daughter sidles up to me, and in her sweetest little kid voice (seriously, you’re 10 not 3! haha, can’t fault her for trying!), she says, “Moooom, when are you going to do MY bedroom? I’ve been very organized in my room, but it could use some touch-ups”. Ok, yes, I suppose it is time for my eldest daughter to finally have her long coveted purple colored bedroom. What is it with my uber girly girls and their uber girly colors? My middle munchkin desired a princess pink bedroom, which she got, and now I’ve got a request for a purple bedroom. This was just too much for my very un-girly soul, so we compromised on violet. Uh, the accessories that is…no violet or pink walls here…we may have to move some day!

Here is what this room looked like before we moved in. Not my style, but very nice! And wow, SO perfectly clean and tidy!
Then we moved in. Sigh. Why are all my before pictures like that? The previous owners had things nice and wonderfully simple, then we move in with our 3 kids (and 1 hubby…because let’s be honest, it factors in), and disaster ensues. SIGH. This is why I started blogging, because chronicling the process from disaster to dreamy is what keeps me accountable and motivated to achieve the change I so desperately desire!
Sorry about my blurry photos. Many of my before pictures are from before the blog and the nice camera. I had no idea I would one day be showing it to hundreds of thousands of people…or I might have at least made my kids pick up the underware off the floor. Haha, just kidding (or am I?).
Projects For This Makeover
- Paint walls
- Paint dresser and desk
- Create more functional storage
- Add drapes
- Create a great workspace for my daughter
- Art art art!
First up on the project list, painting the walls. Which of course just takes the disaster to an all new low. Why is that when one organizes or seeks to improve a space it gets a thousand times worst before it gets better?

For those who like this color, I’m sorry I have no idea what color it is. I got it from my favorite and frequented mis-tint section of the hardware store for just $19!!
Well guys, wish me luck! This room is well on it’s way, and my daughter and I are both excited to see it finished and functional!

After your bedroom makeover you know this is going to be soooo good! Can’t wait to see!
Would the tint formula on the lid of the paint can be accurate?
