[left]Hi there Home Made by Carmona readers! Nice to be back with you. It’s Kathy from Up to Date Interiors again and I’m here to share a fun DIY with you today.
I just love modern hanging art pieces and mobiles but they can be really pricey to purchase. So I tried my hand at one and it turned it awesome (and I only spent $5).

I just love modern hanging art pieces and mobiles but they can be really pricey to purchase. So I tried my hand at one and it turned it awesome (and I only spent $5).
Here’s what I used:
40″ long copper tube (thin enough to bend)
copper wire
fishing wire
embroidery floss
sea glass
Step one: Bend the copper tube into a triangle. You can use a chair leg or the edge of a table to shape the corners. To prevent scratches, place a towel between the copper and furniture. I measured 12 inches on each side and used the extra 4 inches to create a key hole shape at the top with needle nose pliers.
Use pliers to bend the straight end at an angle to create a hook.
Step 2: Cut a piece of 0.9mm gauge wire to form a circle. This was super easy because the wire was already in a 4 1/2 inch coil so I just cut off a circle! Secure with fishing wire and attach to your triangle.
Step 3: Make a tassel using thread. Simple wrap the thread around your fingers. Thread one piece through the top loop and secure with a 2nd piece. Cut the bottom loop and trim the edges so they are all even.
Step 4: Wrap copper wire around pieces of sea glass (or shells, coral, driftwood…)
Step 5: Hang the tassel and sea glass with fishing wire on your mobile.
Hang and enjoy!!

Your mobile looks so pretty. I’ve been using metal for my mobiles, which takes a bit of wellie to sand! Sea glass is a great idea, especially as it has already been naturally smoothed by the sea!
I love all of your ideas, you are obviously very artistic and talented and your team too. Can’t wait to try some of these ideas. I will be staying up with your site.
Thank you, you are so sweet! We are very happy to have you here! <3
Love this!! You always have the best copper DIYs!!!
Awesome Sauce Cathy, an unexpected twist to the wall hanging trend, love it 🙂
